When someone searches “junk removal near me,” they usually want it gone today. Most of them will call one of the first three businesses in the Google Maps results, so your Google Business Profile (GBP) often decides whether your phone rings.
Most junk removal profiles are only half set up. Use this checklist to find the gaps, and work through it top to bottom.
1. Get the foundation right
- Claim and verify your profile. An unverified profile can’t compete. Complete verification (usually a video or a code) and keep your login details safe.
- Use your real business name. Don’t add keywords like “Best Junk Removal Miami – Cheap.” Google can suspend profiles for this, and it isn’t worth the risk.
- Choose “Junk Removal Service” as your primary category. Primary category is one of the strongest signals you control, so don’t leave it as something vague like “Waste Management Service.”
- Add secondary categories that match what you do, such as furniture removal or appliance removal. Only add ones you truly offer.
- Keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere. Your website, directories and social profiles should all match your profile exactly.
2. Set your service area correctly
- If you don’t serve customers at a shop, hide your address and set up a service area instead.
- List the cities and neighborhoods you actually serve. Be realistic about how far you’ll drive.
- Match your service areas to pages on your website. If you serve five cities, each should have its own page. That helps both your profile and your site.
3. Fill in every detail
- Hours: set them accurately, including holiday hours. If you offer same-day or emergency pickup, say so.
- Phone: use a number that a real person or your missed-call system answers quickly. A call that goes unanswered is a lost job.
- Website link: point it to the most relevant page, such as a local landing page, not always the homepage.
- Services: add each one separately (furniture removal, appliance hauling, garage cleanouts, estate cleanouts, construction debris) with a short, plain description.
- Business description: write it for customers, not for search engines. Say who you help, where, and what makes you easy to hire.
- Booking or quote link: add one if you have it, so people can act without calling.
4. Use real photos
Photos build trust faster than almost anything else, because customers want to see who is showing up at their door.
- Your trucks, branded and clean
- Your crew, in uniform
- Before-and-after shots of real jobs
- Your logo and a cover photo
- A few new photos every week or two
Skip stock images. They add nothing, and customers can usually tell.
5. Build and manage reviews
Reviews influence both your ranking and whether someone taps your listing at all.
- Ask every happy customer, ideally right after the job while it’s fresh.
- Send a direct review link by text. The fewer steps, the more reviews you get.
- Reply to every review, good or bad. Keep replies short, polite and specific.
- Never buy or fake reviews. It can get your reviews removed or your profile suspended.
- Aim for steady reviews over time rather than a burst followed by months of nothing.
6. Post and stay active
- Publish a short update weekly, such as a recent job, a seasonal reminder or a special offer.
- Answer questions that appear on your profile, and add common ones yourself (what you take, how pricing works, how fast you can come).
- Check your profile monthly. Edits from other people and outdated details can creep in.
7. Track what’s working
- Watch calls, direction requests and website clicks in your profile’s performance data.
- Note the searches that bring people to you, and compare them with the services you’ve listed.
- Compare month to month. If calls drop, check your hours, category and recent reviews first.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Keyword-stuffing your business name
- Listing a fake address or a virtual office
- Letting reviews go unanswered
- Leaving the phone to ring out during business hours
- Setting up the profile once and never touching it again
Final thought
A well-run Google Business Profile is one of the cheapest and most reliable ways to get junk removal calls. The checklist above covers the basics, but how well each item is done separates the top three results from everyone else.
